Get Caught Reading!
You are invited to GET CAUGHT READING! Snap a photo of yourself reading (any where, any way) or a photo of your family, a friend, or a neighbor reading. Please adhere to social distancing guidelines while taking your photo. To enter, submit (1) the picture of reader(s), (2) the name(s) of the person/people reading, and (3) the title of the book(s) being read. Entries can be submitted to the Facebook event page or emailed directly to the library.

Terms of the "Get Caught Reading" contest:
Contest will run from 8:00 a.m. on Monday, April 6, 2020, to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2020. The individual/family reading in the photo will be considered the "winner", not the photographer. Reading print books, ebooks, or audiobooks are all considered eligible. Winner will receive a Geneva Gold gift certificate. Winner will be randomly drawn at 9:00 am. on Monday, April 13, 2020, at the Geneva Public Library, from complete entries received within the contest period. Winner can be of any age. Winner must be a current Geneva Public Library card holder as of April 6, 2020. Photo submitted must have been taken between March 1, 2020 and April 10, 2020. City of Geneva employees are ineligible to participate.

"Getting to Know Weldon Kees
through His Songs & Lyrics"

Beatrice, Nebraska-native Weldon Kees, known primarily for his dark poetry, was also one of the mid-century's most versatile and artistic personalities. he was an abstract expressionist artist, photographer, accomplished pianist, and composer/lyricist of popular songs. Singer-Songwriter Helen Waring Johnson discusses Kees and performs from his little known repertoire, focusing on Kees' witty, intelligent lyrics of songs written in collaboration with San Francisco clarinetist Bob Helm.

Mark your calendars now! Nebraska author Tosca Lee will be at the library to talk about her writing and new books.  Several of her titles are available in print at the library, as well as audio and ebook versions through OverDrive.
