Library Cards and Borrowing Materials
Library Cards
Geneva Public Library issues library cards free of charge to all who reside within the Geneva city limits, and/or within the Chelsea, Geneva, Madison, or Stanton townships in Fillmore County. Library cards expire one year after they are granted, and each year subsequently; and may be renewed with a simple phone call or visit to confirm their contact information.
Those who reside outside of Geneva city limits or in townships not mentioned above may obtain a library card for an annual fee of $20.
If you participate in the NebrasKard program through your home library, you may obtain a Geneva Public Library card free of charge.
Please stop in the library to complete a library card application.
Please bring these items when completing a library card application at the library:

- Current photo identification.
- Proof of current mailing address.
Children under age 18 must have a parent/guardian signature on their library card application.
Checkout Limits
- There is a checkout limit of 50 print materials and audiobooks on cd per library card.
- There is a checkout limit of 10 DVD or Blu-ray movies per library card.
Fees & Renewing Materials
- Overdue fines were eliminated on March 1, 2022, but other fees may apply such as for interlibrary loan services, fax and copy services, or maker equipment consumables.
- Print materials and audiobook on cd check out for one, 2-week loan period, and will automatically renew twice for 2-week periods. If the materials are not returned to the library during these six weeks, the library will assume the items are lost and a bill for the replacement costs will be sent.
- DVD and Blu-ray movies check out for one 2-day loan period, and will automatically renew twice for 2-day periods. If the materials are not returned to the library during these six days, the library will assume the items are lost and a bill for the replacement costs will be sent.
